Withlacoochee River and Stumpknocker’s Friday, April 22 Earth Day
Included will be a stop at Yalaha German Bakery
First off the boat is a 24 foot covered pontoon boat. In our beautiful Florida weather the boat is open most of the year with just the top covered and in some of our cooler or wetter days that do tend to pop up occasionally the boat can be enclosed. So if you like boating you will like the tours in the beautiful scenic area of the Withlacoochee River all year. On a lazy, lazy day, can you think of anything better to do than cruise down a cool river? Captain Mike's Lazy River Cruises offers guided boat tours down the Withlacoochee River, Rainbow Springs River& Lake Rousseau. What better way is there to view great wildlife and great scenery than from a relaxing seat on a boat ride? The tours are from a covered pontoon boat with very plush seating. They leave from Stumpknocker's, a favorite local restaurant, so passengers can have dinner after their cruise. The rivers in Florida offer some of the best bird watching in the U.S. The River is much as it was when the Indians canoed it a hundred years ago. There are many varieties of birds such as herons, egrets, hawks, and eagles, along with many other types of animals especially our ALLIGATORS. Captain Mike has been voted the best tour guide by the local community year after year. He has certificates in Eco-tourism and enjoys sharing his knowledge of the rivers, their wildlife and the native flora and fauna and their history. This is followed by the town of Inverness and the giant Russell Stovers Outlet in Wildwood. Leave Suntree 8:30am SB 8:45am and Cocoa Beach Country Club 9:15am Return Late Afternoon 7 to 7:30 pm. Cedar Key and National Wildlife Refuge Boatride: April 30th
Explore the natural beauty and rich history of the Cedar Keys National Wildlife Refuge.
Knowledgeable captains will discuss in detail settlement history, civil war history and ecology of the refuge, providing a complete overview of unique community. Highlights include visiting where the town was initially settled on Atsena Otie Key and a viewing of the lighthouse on Seahorse Key. Numerous species of birds and marine life can be seen along the way and dolphin encounters are very common. Each trip is uniquely different and have helped build our long list of repeat customers over the years. Our goal is to balance education with an enjoyable experience, thereby creating or reinforcing an appreciation of nature.

Saturday May 7th- The Island Grove Blueberry Festival and Micanopy
The whole area is a throwback in time. In fact, Micanopy which is filled with Oak Trees, boutiques and art galleries was the set for the Michael J Fox Movie, Doc Hollywood. . The area also hosts a substantial collection of antiques available for viewing on this excursion. The Herlong Mansion is their Antebellum B&B across the street from their small historical museum and health shop. The area’s rural scenery is top notch to view between the towns and stops. There are a few Blueberry Festivals in Florida at this time of year. This is the rural country version in Island Grove near Citra Florida on a field filled with displays and agricultural information.
The Blueberry Festival has bluegrass music and other entertainment and booths on display on this day. $55 members and $59 guests includes tours, entrances guide and transportation Leave Suntree 7:30am SB 7:45am and CB 8:15am with a return around 7:30pm.
